Community engagement is about being a force for good and giving back to the communities where our people live and work.
This is important to us as part of our identity and culture and in strengthening our reputation. We know from questions at interview that community engagement is important to our people and their ongoing donation of time and resource is testament to this.
Community engagement provides opportunities to collaborate with our clients and other stakeholders, strengthening relationships. By contributing to the community we help others by sharing our expertise and resources.
We deliver positive community impacts by collaborating with charities, not-for-profit organisations and community representatives. We focus on addressing inequalities, good citizenship, the environment and social mobility. We contribute through a combination of pro bono legal services, volunteering, trusteeships and school governor roles, in-kind support and charitable giving.
In-kind support generally takes the form of allowing charities and community groups to use our office facilities. Charitable giving is enabled by our people fundraising and making donations, the Burges Salmon Charitable Trust and a number of longer-term corporate partnerships.
Our people are actively encouraged to get involved through our internal network of community champions known as ‘BEngaged’. We support charities as part of the skills development of people particularly through mentoring, coaching and trusteeships.
We invite our people to attend information sessions to hear more about the work of key charities we support.
