At Burges Salmon, we have a long-standing commitment to responsible business. This is about how we work operating to high market place standards, being an exceptional firm with an inclusive workplace, minimising our environmental impacts and collaborating for good in the community.
Responsible business ties in closely with our culture and values. It is vital for attracting and retaining the best talent, maintaining our reputation and delivering against the expectations of our clients and other stakeholders. More broadly, and with reference to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, it is important in terms of how we contribute to a future that is fairer, equitable and environmentally sustainable.
We strive for best practice. We are members of Business in The Community and are signatories to the UN Global Compact. Our approach to responsible business is represented by our responsible business framework, which illustrates the interconnections between our areas of focus and the issues that are important to us and our stakeholders.
We deliver responsible business through our legal expertise, the contributions of our people, the standards to which we operate and various collaborations. We have conducted a materiality assessment of the UN Sustainable Development Goals to understand and direct our efforts to where we can have the greatest impact.
We have focused our priorities based upon our five core responsible business objectives and in alignment of our purpose whereby ‘We are an ambitious, sustainable and inclusive firm that ensure our clients, our people and our wider communities flourish’. Our responsible business framework incorporates these elements and makes reference to our 2026 Responsible Business Ambition, which is defined by ten quantified targets. We reference these in our responsible business report.
