As the number of cyber-attacks continue to grow at an unprecedented rate across the UK and globally, the need for cyber resilience is stronger than ever. Pension trustees are legally required to establish and operate an effective system of governance, including internal controls. As a potential high likelihood, high impact risk, these controls need to include measures to reduce cyber risk.
As a pension scheme trustee or sponsoring employer, you may feel overwhelmed in the face of cybercrime and unsure how to prepare for, and how to deal with, the prospect of a cyber-attack.
On 20 April 2023, Daniel Sibthorpe from Crowe’s National Forensic Services Team and Professional Trustee Vanessa Roberts from Ross Trustees (part of Independent Governance Group) joined us for a round table discussion exploring the preventative (blue hat) and reactive (red hat) measures which best protect pension schemes. You can watch this webinar on-demand by using the button below.
During the webinar, attendees were able to download Burges Salmon’s Cyber Security Compliance Trustee Checklist, which includes information about our newly launched Cyber Security Package. This Cyber Security Package contains template policies, documents and training to help trustees to build their pension scheme’s cyber resilience and therefore manage cyber risk. If you would like more information about our fixed fee for our Cyber Security Package offering then please do get in touch.
The practical webinar session considered:
1. Introduction to the scale and nature of cybercrime
2. Building cyber resilience to best prepare for a potential cyber-incident
3. Reactive measures to have in place in the event that a cyber-incident does occur
4. Practical tips and hints from a trustee’s perspective as to how best to develop cyber resilience in your scheme
This webinar will be of interest to all trustees, pensions advisers and sponsoring employers.
