Independent UK law firm Burges Salmon is embarking on a journey of discovery with the return of its annual innovation and technology week. Taking place this week, B-Innovative aims to share ways in which Burges Salmon continues to innovate, provide upskilling opportunities, and equip our people with knowledge to help navigate the evolving technological landscape.
Emma Sorrell, Innovation Manager at Burges Salmon, comments: “Across the firm, there is enthusiasm and curiosity about AI and as the technology, and its real-life applications in our sector continue to evolve, B-Innovative Week showcases how innovation and technology elevate our service delivery. It provides a platform to explore new technologies and brings our people together to foster a culture of knowledge-sharing, enabling us to collectively push the boundaries of innovation and shape the future of legal service delivery and client experience.”
In light of rapid developments in AI, and with a focus on collaboration and connecting our people with internal teams dedicated to elevating the client experience, the week features a raft of exciting sessions under the theme “embark” including:
- Today saw a highly anticipated keynote talk from Uwais Iqbal, the founder of legal AI consultancy Simplexico, with his expertise helping to demystify AI and dive into the specifics of GenAI and LLMs, uncovering ways in which the legal sector and Burges Salmon can continue to explore and embrace these transformative technologies as part of the firm’s strategy;
- A series of success stories from the firm’s AI Champions who will walk through their Copilot for 365 journey to date, sharing their most impactful use-cases, and helping to elevate skills and inspire others across the firm;
- An exclusive preview of a cutting-edge GenAI tool specifically designed for the legal sector; and
- A practical session delivered by Tom Whittaker (Director), who was recently recognised as Lawyer of the Year for his expertise in AI, and Liz Smith (Associate) on engaging in authentic, impactful and open conversations on the topic of AI and the opportunities these conversations may present.
Throughout the week, the firm will also spotlight the progress made since the launch of its multidimensional Digital Enablement Programme. At its core, the Programme brings together and leverages AI, data, processes and technology, together with internal expertise, to enhance the firm’s client service delivery. Updates on the next phases of our firmwide Copilot for 365 roll-out will be shared, bringing to life aspects of the firm’s unique, human-centred approach which was highlighted last November at the Microsoft Ignite Conference hosted in Chicago, you can watch the recording here.
