Independent UK law firm Burges Salmon has advised Denmark-headquartered European Energy, a global renewable energy developer and investor, on the divestment of three UK solar parks with an expected combined annual output of more than 120 GWh, equivalent to the energy consumption of over 30,000 European households.
Located in strategic solar hotspots in Scotland and England, the assets include the Kincraig project in Aberdeenshire, the Vicarage Drove project in Lincolnshire and the Marksbury Plain project near Bath. All three parks are scheduled to be grid-connected during Q1 and Q2 of 2025 and all have signed multi-year Power Purchase Agreements with global corporate offtakers including drinks manufacturer Asahi Europe & International.
A multi-disciplinary Burges Salmon team advised European Energy on the sale, led, on the corporate side, by senior associate Bethan Penrhyn-Jones, partner Jonathan Eves and associate Tom Curnow, and on the construction side, by director Katie Wall and partner James Horton.
Bethan Penrhyn-Jones of Burges Salmon, comments: "We are delighted to have supported European Energy on its divestment of these UK solar projects. Its commitment to developing high-quality solar projects is making a significant impact on the renewable energy landscape and it's great to be a part of that. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with European Energy as it expands its clean energy initiatives in the UK."
Nicholas Connell, Senior Legal Manager at European Energy, adds: “Bethan and the rest of the Burges Salmon team were reliable, straightforward and affable, making it a pleasure to have their assistance on this important divestment.”
