Burges Salmon has advised Miami-based Blink Charging Co. and its Dutch subsidiary Blink Holdings BV (Blink) on the acquisition of UK electric vehicle infrastructure leader, Electric Blue Limited (EB Charging).
Blink is paving the way for the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) through the deployment and operation of EV charging infrastructure globally. With industry-leading equipment and a robust network of public charging stations, the company continues to develop the charging infrastructure required to meet the growing needs of EV drivers.
By acquiring EB Charging, Blink will contribute to the UK’s recent commitment to increase the number of charging points to 300,000 by 2030 as part of a new £1.6 billion strategy to improve public EV infrastructure.
EB Charging operates around 1,100 charging points across the UK, principally for local authorities, NHS healthcare trusts, further education colleges, and for fleets, and is represented on many procurement frameworks.
The cross-sector Burges Salmon team advising on the deal worked alongside Blink’s US counsel. It was led by director Alex Lloyd, partners Jonathan Eves and Lucy Peglar, and solicitors Ellie Shanahan and Ellen Robinson, all from the firm’s Corporate team. The team was supported by director in the firm’s Projects team, Chris Lewis.
