Burges Salmon’s Energy team has advised Green Investment Group (GIG), part of the Macquarie Group, on the acquisition of an initial 187MWh battery storage portfolio from developer Capbal.
The acquisition is GIG’s first development-stage battery storage portfolio in the UK, with construction expected to start later this year. The seven projects forming the portfolio will be located in congested areas of the UK power network, including Scotland and southeast England
Burges Salmon Energy partners Camilla Usher-Clark and Ross Fairley worked with a broad team of specialists in the firm to bring the transaction to a successful conclusion, with support from Amy Carr and Rosie Lord.
Camilla says: “The portfolio is an exciting acquisition for GIG, and marks its first step into a development stage, utility-scale UK battery storage portfolio, as part of a wider development partnership with Capbal. We’re delighted to have worked alongside the GIG team and supported their ambitions to accelerate the deployment of battery storage technology.”
