Experts from Burges Salmon have advised office furniture manufacturer Herman Miller on the development of its new manufacturing facility on a brown field site in Melksham.
Securing 200 jobs, Herman Miller is in the process of merging its existing two sites into a single, £14 million, 170,000 sq ft facility in Melksham, which has now reached practical completion and is ready to be fitted out.
Herman Miller’s Vice-President of International Operations, Richard Scott said: “We are delighted to have reached practical completion of our new facility and we are grateful to Burges Salmon for its support and guidance throughout this project.”
The Burges Salmon team, which comprised lawyers from its Real Estate, Construction and Engineering and Planning units, advised Herman Miller on a range of legal matters including the acquisition of the site through a complex development agreement; the appointment of a development manager and thereafter supporting on the construction package; the Unilateral Undertaking with Wiltshire Council and the s278 Agreement with Wiltshire Council in relation to the new link road.
