Burges Salmon’s corporate team has advised German semiconductor manufacturer Infineon Technologies AG on its minority investment in XMOS Ltd, a Bristol-based fabless semiconductor company that provides voice processors for IoT devices.
Infineon Technologies AG is a world leader in semiconductor solutions and XMOS is a leading supplier of voice and audio solutions to the consumer electronics market.
The strategic investment by Infineon will allow the business to explore the next evolutionary step of the Internet of Things (IoT) by strengthening its expertise in voice-controlled human machine interface.
Corporate partner Mark Shepherd led the firm’s team with assistance from associate Alex Lloyd and solicitor Joshua Reynolds.
Mark Shepherd comments: “The investment is an exciting development for both Infineon and XMOS and we are pleased to have seen it through to a successful completion. The market for voice-controlled HMI in consumer devices is on the cusp of significant growth and it was a great opportunity to work with two businesses at the forefront of this technology.”
