Independent UK law firm Burges Salmon has advised Integrum Renewable Energy, a UK-based solar PV and integrated battery storage developer, on its acquisition of a 78 MW co-located solar and battery project from renewables developer Island Green Power.
The acquisition of the Camblesforth project based in North Yorkshire, which comprises 68 MW of solar and 10 MW of battery capacity, builds on Integrum’s existing pipeline of co-located projects and strengthens its position as a fully integrated independent power producer platform with a stated aim of a portfolio of at least 1GW of operational assets within the next four to six years.
The Burges Salmon team advising on the acquisition was led by partner Jonathan Eves and senior associate Briony Barber from the firm’s Corporate and M&A team and Alec Whiter from the firm’s Energy Projects team. The transaction is a repeat instruction for Burges Salmon, having guided Integrum through a £150 million investment from Omnes in 2023, a leading private equity firm dedicated to energy transition and innovation.
Briony comments: “With a dedicated Net Zero team and one of the most active M&A practices in the energy sector, we were well positioned to advise Integrum throughout this transaction. It has been a pleasure working once again with the company on this acquisition which expands Integrum’s solar PV and battery energy storage portfolio and supports its vision to be a leading developer, owner and operator of renewable energy assets in the UK.”
Philip Price, chief executive officer of Integrum Renewable Energy, adds: “The acquisition of the Camblesforth project reinforces our position as an important player in the energy generation landscape. We’d like to thank Jonathan, Briony, Alec and the wider team at Burges Salmon who quickly grasped and ably resolved complex issues to complete the transaction under the required timescales.”
Burges Salmon has over 20 years of experience in the renewable energy sector and is regularly engaged in first-of-a-kind work across onshore and offshore wind, solar, BESS, biomass, hydrogen and geothermal projects. With a specialism in energytech, the firm has set itself apart from its competitors and is widely regarded as one of the sector’s leading law firms.
