Resource and waste management experts from Burges Salmon have advised Northampton Borough Council on its new ten year environmental services contract with Veolia.
The Burges Salmon team, led by Projects senior associate Sam Sandilands with support from Projects partner Nick Churchward, included input from lawyers across a range of specialisms including projects, environment, transport, employment, pensions, construction and real estate. The work involved preparing the new contract, advising on all legal aspects of the procurement process, negotiating terms with bidders and liaising with Eunomia on the technical aspects of the project and procurement.
Nick Churchward says: “We were delighted to advise the Council on the new contract. It was a great opportunity to showcase our firm’s resource and waste management sector expertise across the range of specialist lawyers in the team.”
Jackie Buckler, Legal Contracts & Procurement Advisor at Northampton Borough Council comments: “Burges Salmon demonstrated great technical ability and knowledge together with an in depth understanding of the commercial realities of the services. The advice received was anticipative of the Council’s requirements; very supportive, team focused across the multi-disciplinary requirements and delivered clearly and promptly to ensure all targets were met and the contract delivered on time.”
The services under the new contract commenced on 4 June 2018 when Veolia started working in partnership with the Council to succeed in delivering a number of initiatives to keep the streets and parks clean and well maintained, and improve recycling rates.
