Ordo is the trading name of The Smart Request Company Ltd, a FinTech established in 2018 to bring to market a secure messaging and request for payment solution. Ordo and Ordopay are trademarks of The Smart Request Company Ltd. Using open banking and Faster Payments, Ordo aims to protect against invoice and payments fraud, while improving cashflow for SMEs and helping consumers keep on top of their finances in real time.
The investment is the latest deal as part of Nationwide’s £50 million Venture Fund, through which the building society is making strategic investments and partnerships with innovative early stage companies.
The Burges Salmon team comprised corporate partner Mark Shepherd and senior associate Alex Lloyd.
Mark Shepherd comments: “It was great working with the team at Ordo. Nationwide’s investment delivers an excellent platform for Ordo’s expert management team to deliver a brilliant and innovative product in a competitive market place.”
Fliss Berridge, one of Ordo’s founders and General Counsel says: “Burges Salmon were fantastic. We had informative, supportive and tailored, commercial advice that was just right for helping us complete the investment as efficiently as we could, meaning we could get on with delivering Ordo for the UK’s SMEs and their customers.”
