Burges Salmon’s Corporate Finance team has advised Trivela Group on the acquisition of a majority stake in Walsall Football Club.
Trivela is an American sports investment firm based in Birmingham, Alabama which is building towards a multi-club ownership model in global football. Their investment in Walsall FC marks their entry into the UK at an exciting time for the club.
The cross-firm Burges Salmon team advising on the deal was led by Corporate partner Dominic Davis, alongside Corporate team senior associate Amy Carr and solicitor Victoria MacAulay. Members of the firm’s Real Estate team advising on the deal included partner Ross Polkinghorne and senior associates Ashley Davies and Simon Dempster.
Dominic Davis comments: “We are really delighted to have advised Trivela on this deal. We have thoroughly enjoyed working with Ben and the entire Trivela team and helping Trivela make their first investment in the UK. This transaction is a key moment for both Trivela and Walsall FC -- we are very much looking forward to next season and continuing to support Ben and the Trivela team with their future plans.”
Ben Boycott, Trivela Group's Managing Director, adds: “Completion of our investment in Walsall Football Club is a key milestone in the history of our company, and it would not have been possible without the exceptional support we received from the professionals at Burges Salmon.
"As a foreign investor trying to effectively navigate an acquisition in the UK, the team at Burges Salmon provided knowledge, order, clarity, precision and pragmatism to a relatively involved, complicated process. The team at Burges Salmon have my highest professional recommendation, and I look forward to continuing to work with them in our future endeavours.”
