Burges Salmon has acted on behalf of Waitrose on the sale of the heritage food guide, The Good Food Guide, which champions hospitality in the UK, to respected industry media platform CODE Hospitality. CODE has acquired the Guide and intends to use its unique positioning within hospitality to continue to develop it, while growing its digital offering.
The supermarket group will continue to champion the industry through their other publications, including Waitrose Food and Waitrose Weekend.
The Burges Salmon team was led by Bethan Penrhyn-Jones and Dominic Davis, with assistance from Richard Hugo and David Varney from the firm’s commercial team and Ian Carnochan from the corporate tax team. The internal Waitrose team was led by Matt Christie (Senior Legal Counsel) and Liz Sproston (Senior Legal Counsel, IP).
