Burges Salmon has been appointed to Tier 1 of the government’s Crown Commercial Service (CCS) General Legal Services panel.
This continues the firm's historic success on being appointed to central government panels. The 48 firms on the current CCS panels have been reduced to only 12 firms on the Tier 1 panel.
Tier 1 firms will be the preferred suppliers for all UK central government ministerial and non-ministerial departments (excluding regulators), their executive agencies and the successors of these bodies.
The panel covers a broad range of core, specialist and sector needs, including elements of public, private and commercial law to assist with complex and often specialised issues and projects.
The appointment is for two years, with the option to extend. The estimated total value of the framework is £400 million.
The tender process involved a significant team comprising lawyers and business services individuals from across the firm. The team was led by projects department partners John Houlden, Keith Beattie and Matthew Ramus.
John Houlden says:
"The appointment demonstrates our strong public sector credentials across a broad range of sectors. Our existing Central Government clients include the Ministry of Defence, Highways England, the Department for Transport, the Department for Education and the National Crime Agency."
