Burges Salmon is pleased to announce the appointment of Nigel Watson as a corporate partner to lead its Employee Incentives team.
Building on its successful Edinburgh launch in May 2019, Nigel Watson’s appointment to the Burges Salmon partnership demonstrates the firm's ongoing commitment to building its growing reputation in Scotland and to delivering exceptional client service across the UK.
Prior to joining Burges Salmon Nigel was a partner at Brodies, based in its Edinburgh office, where he established and led its employee benefits practice. Nigel advises companies and owner-managed businesses on employee share ownership, tax-effective reward structures and remuneration design and execution. Nigel has extensive experience in all aspects of the design, implementation and operation of equity incentive plans both domestic and overseas, as well as advising remuneration committees on management incentive issues.
Nigel says: “I am delighted to be joining Burges Salmon. The firm has an impressive portfolio of clients, is the current UK Law Firm of the Year 2020, and since May 2019, is making a name for itself in the Scottish market with its flexible, can-do, commercial approach. It’s a very exciting time to be joining the firm.”
In addition to developing Burges Salmon's Employee Incentives team, Nigel’s UK-wide practice will see him focus on advising clients across a number of the firm’s key strategic areas including financial services and private equity.
Burges Salmon’s Head of Corporate, Nick Graves, says: “We’re really pleased to have Nigel on board, particularly at such an exciting time in our upward growth trajectory. Nigel is a highly experienced Employee Incentives and remuneration practitioner and his expertise in this area will help us continue to grow and ensure that we continue to meet the needs of our clients.”
Nigel Watson joined Burges Salmon as a partner in the Corporate team on 4 January 2021.
