Corporate
- Julie Book’s work covers all areas of corporate advice but she specialises in M&A, joint ventures and corporate reorganisations. She has a focus on acting for entrepreneurs and family offices, as well as UK and international companies, on both national and cross-border deals.
Construction & Engineering
- Claire Logue specialises in contract delivery, strategic troubleshooting, and dispute resolution for those operating in the construction and engineering sector. She is dual qualified in England & Wales and Scotland, and has particular experience representing clients in technically complex, high-value matters, especially within the Scottish market.
- Nia Stewart provides non-contentious construction law advice to public and private sector clients including central government, local authorities, developers, property funds and contractors on a wide range of complex projects with a focus on the built environment sector.
Dispute Resolution
- Andrew Matheson is a commercial litigator with extensive experience managing complex, high-value commercial disputes, often involving civil fraud. His practice also covers financial crime, and he advises clients on responding to matters concerning bribery, fraud and money-laundering.
- Catherine Banton specialises in contentious property matters, with extensive experience advising occupiers, institutional investors, high net worth individuals and developers in all manner of leasehold and freehold property transactions. She provides strategic advice on property management as well as representing clients in the High and County Courts, the Property Tribunal and through Alternative Dispute Resolution.
Employment
- James Green advises employers on complex, sensitive and high-value employment law issues, with a particular focus on the financial services sector. He leads teams supporting strategic people projects and change programmes and advises on the employment aspects of M&A, outsourcings and other major transactions.
Planning & Compulsory Purchase
- Cathryn Tracey specialises in consenting, in particular renewable energy, infrastructure and major development projects. Her expertise spans the whole application process from early strategic advice, to reviewing and drafting application documents, advising on compulsory acquisition and representing clients at hearings and during examination for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects, Developments of National Significance, appeals and common land applications.
Projects
- Emma Andrews advises on all aspects of energy projects/transactions and energy regulation, particularly in the renewables and clean heat sectors. Her clients include developers, generators, large energy users, government departments, local authorities, funders and contractors.
Real Estate
- Rachel Westbury advises a full range of landowner clients from individual farmer to national institutions on the long-term promotion and delivery of strategic land for development. She has experience advising on options, promotions, hybrid agreements, conditional contracts, overage arrangements and dealing with multi-landowner development schemes.
- Tom Perret advises on a diverse range of real estate matters in the energy sector. With experience across renewables, as well as nuclear and fusion, he has particular expertise in the development, financing, and acquisition/disposal of energy projects.
- Will Hall acts for UK and international investors, occupiers, and lenders on a wide range of UK real estate matters. He has particular experience advising on investment portfolio asset management, portfolio refinancing, and complex acquisitions/disposals of real estate assets, with a particular focus on hotels.
Tax, Trusts, & Family
- Ed Hayes specialises in advising on UK tax issues for resident and non-resident individuals, family offices and non-UK resident trustees and companies as well as cross-border estates and succession planning. He also represents STEP in engagements with the UK’s authorities on behalf of the private wealth industry.
- Hannah Petherick advises on all aspects of family law and divorce, heading up the firm’s South West practice. She specialises in resolving complex financial cases involving trust assets, business issues, and pensions, drafting pre- and post-nuptial agreements, as well as leading our Children Law practice dealing with arrangements for children and other related proceedings.
