On Wednesday 30 June, independent UK law firm Burges Salmon hosted the latest virtual roundtable in its ‘Road to Net Zero’ series which brought together sector leaders and key stakeholders to discuss the key themes, challenges and opportunities for transport in relation to Net Zero.
The roundtable marked the eighth in the series launched by Burges Salmon to address the challenges and opportunities of achieving the government’s Net Zero 2050 target, with the firm welcoming 13 key organisations such as Climate Change Committee (CCC), Rock Rail, London City Airport and Transport for Wales to the virtual event.
Burges Salmon partner Brioney Thomas, who Heads the firm’s Transport team, facilitated the roundtable which saw attendees exploring and discussing considerations relating to policy and regulation, the growth of shared transport, hydrogen vehicles and changes to overseas transport.
Brioney says: “The eighth roundtable in our ‘Road to Net Zero’ series saw another fruitful discussion – this time focused on the transport sector – with prominent industry figures who we were privileged to host.
“Burges Salmon has particular expertise in the transport, energy, land use, food production and built environment sectors, the sectors that will be key in shaping the move to Net Zero. We are in a strong position to understand the implications of changing policy and regulation, and this underpins our series of workshops and roundtables bringing sector leaders together and facilitating the necessary joined-up thinking.”
With thanks to all who attended: Connected Places Catapult, Institute for Government, WSP, Centre for Cities, British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association, Rock Rail, Sustrans, London City Airport, Smart Ports, ViaVan, Climate Change Committee (CCC), Renewable Energy Association and Transport for Wales.
