Independent UK law firm Burges Salmon is celebrating National Inclusion Week, which runs from 26 September – 2 October 2022.
National Inclusion Week (NIW) is dedicated to celebrating inclusion and taking action to create inclusive workplaces. Founded by Inclusive Employers, NIW is now in its 10th year.
Burges Salmon is marking NIW having been named earlier in the year in The Times Top 50 Employers for Women 2022, for the second year running. This list celebrates UK employers that make gender equality part of their business strategy and are working to bring it to life at all levels of the organisation.
Run by the charity Business in the Community – The Prince’s Responsible Business Network – for more than a decade, the Times Top 50 Employers for Women is the UK’s most high-profile and well-established listing of employers striving for gender equality in the workplace. The incredibly competitive process assesses organisations on a range of areas, including their approach to recruitment, family friendly policies and how they have championed gender equality in the context of the pandemic.
Gender equality is critical to Burges Salmon’s success and diversity and inclusion are of paramount importance to its firm-wide strategy. This underpins the firm’s commitment to ensuring its female colleagues can see demonstrable evidence of a clear route to senior roles within the business, equality in terms of pay and recognition, and a strong support network within the firm to help facilitate this.
Chris Seaton, Senior Partner and Head of the firm’s Gender Taskforce, comments: “I’m delighted that we have been recognised by Business in the Community in the ‘The Times Top 50 Employers for Women’ for the second year running and that we can celebrate this achievement at this year’s National Inclusion Week. We know there is still much more to do, but it reflects our commitment to continue to build a better ‘new normal’ in the legal industry, and to ensure that all our people feel included and are able to flourish at work.”
