Independent UK law firm Burges Salmon has been recognised for its innovation capabilities by the International Institute of Legal Project Management (IILPM), winning Legal Process Improvement Project of The Year at the IILPM Annual Global Awards 2023.
The IILPM Annual Global Awards recognise exceptional achievements in both legal project management and legal process improvement, highlighting law firms across the globe that advance their clients and their firms through innovation and project management initiatives that enhance service delivery.
Burges Salmon won the award for its collaborative work supporting the UK’s largest water-only supplier, Affinity Water, in identifying its compliance obligations, streamlining compliance management, and helping to embed a culture of compliance within the organisation.
With the firm’s track record advising the Utilities sector as well as its ability to pull upon a team of multi-disciplinary innovation and technology specialists, Burges Salmon built a strong working relationship with Affinity Water, providing them with a clear understanding of the client’s existing processes, challenges, and desired improvements.
The result of this project was the creation of an intuitive and user-friendly tool, which has digitised, partly automated and streamlined the client’s compliance process. The collaborative approach between the firm’s legal and Innovation teams, together with the client, was a driver in the successful roll out of the tool, which launched in April 2023.
Emma Sorrell, Innovation Manager at Burges Salmon, comments: “It was a pleasure to work with Affinity Water on this successful project, our collaborative efforts, together with utilising technology and harnessing the skills of the right people, was fundamental to ensuring the resulting process improvement and solution provided genuine value. Innovation plays an important part in our promise to deliver exceptional service to clients and we’re proud to see our work recognised by the IILPM Global Awards.”
Combining collaboration, expertise, and technology, together with a forward-thinking approach, Burges Salmon’s Innovation team works with lawyers, business services colleagues and clients to identify bespoke solutions to meet current and evolving business needs.
