Burges Salmon has been recognised as one of the most active law firms in the global clean energy sector during 2019 by Clean Energy Pipeline in its recently published clean energy global league tables.
Last year, the firm’s transactional energy lawyers completed 34 clean energy M&A deals with an aggregate deal value of over £360 million, placing it first amongst its peers for the number of deals transacted. Over the last seven years Burges Salmon has been the most active law firm in clean energy M&A (by deal volume), according to Clean Energy Pipeline’s annual tables.
The firm’s project finance lawyers working in the energy sector completed six project financings worth an aggregate £277 million in 2019, placing the firm in the top 15 law firms for clean energy project finance.
Partner Camilla Usher-Clark, who leads Burges Salmon’s Corporate Energy M&A team, says: “This is a huge achievement and something for our wider Energy, Power and Utilities practice to celebrate as very much a team effort. The most significant success, however, is the retention of our ranking as the most active law firm in clean energy M&A by deal volume, about which we are delighted.
“Our performance in Clean Energy Pipeline’s 2019 league tables is testament to the 80 or so clean energy lawyers at Burges Salmon who provide advice to our energy sector clients daily and really underpins our views, position and investment in the sector.”
