The Tax team from Burges Salmon has been named Best Tax Team in a National Firm at the 2016 Taxation Awards.
The Burges Salmon Tax team won this award due to a combination of factors that it was able to demonstrate including teamwork, innovative use of technology, adding value and delivering service excellence to clients.
The Taxation Awards made their debut in 2001 and quickly became recognised as a mark of excellence within the tax sector. The entries received each year continue to be of both a high quality and quantity and the awards night itself is one of the biggest of the year for the tax sector in the UK.
John Barnett, head of the Tax and Private Client department at Burges Salmon, said: “It is our wide-ranging, eclectic client base and the quality of our work that makes our Tax team stand out. Our clients range from international banks to individuals; from multi-national corporations to charities. Our work ranges from IHT planning advice to advocacy before tribunals; from structuring MBO's to advising ultra-high net worth individuals on complex international structuring.
“I am therefore very pleased for every member of the team that we have won this award, as it reflects the excellent work that they undertake for our clients.”
Burges Salmon’s Tax team comprises seven partners and 23 other lawyers, three trainee solicitors and 16 support staff, including two professional support lawyers. The firm’s expert team of tax lawyers, which include seven Chartered tax advisers, provides legal advice on a comprehensive range of tax law issues. The team advises on tax planning, investigations and disputes, and handles compliance matters too on all taxes including capital gains tax, corporation tax, income tax, inheritance tax, national insurance contributions, stamp duty land tax and value added tax.
The Taxation Awards took place on Thursday 19 May 2016 at the Hilton Park Lane in London.
