Independent UK law firm Burges Salmon is pleased to announce that Niall Mackle, a senior associate in the firm’s Corporate and M&A team, has been named in the 2025 Hot 100 list. Published by leading legal publication The Lawyer, the annual Lawyer Hot 100 recognises the most daring, innovative and creative lawyers from in-house, private practice and the Bar across the UK.
Niall is one in a handful of senior associates to make up the list this year and is recognised for his leading role facilitating complex mergers and acquisitions, equity investments and joint ventures. His impressive client portfolio includes real estate and leisure investment firm London and Regional Properties, the UK’s leading transport operator FirstGroup, renewable energy developers AMPYR and ESB and the UK’s largest integrated forestry and sawmilling business BSW Timber.
Niall also acts for a number of innovative high-growth companies including electric vehicle salary sacrifice provider The Electric Car Scheme, groundbreaking fintechs including Communion and Prosper as well as start-ups Mhor Energy (formerly known as LIND), Nium and Danu, which Niall has been supporting from inception, successfully guiding them through each next stage of growth.
Niall was one of the first lawyers to join Burges Salmon when it opened its Edinburgh office in 2019. Much like the firm, which is now firmly part of Scotland’s legal infrastructure, Niall has asserted himself as a dealmaker, acting on high value and large-scale deals for Scottish, UK-wide and international clients. A marketing champion, Niall regularly supports the firm’s Business Development initiatives and spoke twice at the Young Company Finance Annual Conference in Scotland.
Niall comments: “Being included in The Lawyer Hot 100, alongside some of the UK’s most brilliant and respected legal minds, is truly an honour and I am really pleased to see a greater number of associates and senior associates included in this year’s list, recognising the important contributions we make to our clients and firms. This accolade is for me a testament to the exceptional culture and leadership team at Burges Salmon, with the firm truly empowering younger talent to develop our own relationships, boost our individual profiles and take the lead on transactions.”
