Burges Salmon has been named as a finalist in the 'Legal Team of the Year – Large Firm' category at the STEP Private Client Awards 2015/16.
The firm's Private Client team has received the shortlist for the continued advice it has provided to clients on ground-breaking transactions, as well as the breadth and depth of its private wealth practice in general.
Over the last year, the team has strengthened its relationships with the world's largest trust companies, provided cutting-edge product opinions to many private banks, lectured to over 1,000 professionals on GAAR, and instituted a multiplier-relationship management (MRM) programme with its key institutional clients.
The awards, now in their 10th year, recognise outstanding and complex work by solicitors, lawyers, accountants, trust managers and financial advisers across the private wealth sector.
The Awards are open for both STEP members and non-members to enter and all categories are open internationally and assessed by an independent panel of expert judges. The presiding judges assess entries and select up to five finalists in each category. They are supported by a Panel of Experts selected by the judges and represent internationally renowned solicitors, lawyers, accountants, financial advisors, barristers and trust companies.
John Barnett, a partner in Burges Salmon's Private Client team, said: 'The STEP Awards are widely seen as the leading such ceremony in the wider private-wealth sector. We are therefore proud that we have again been recognised in this way, against some stiff competition.'
The winners will be announced at a dinner and awards ceremony that over 700 private-client professionals will attend at The Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel in London on 8 September 2015.
The Burges Salmon team acts for high and ultra-high net worth individuals, private banks, trust companies and family offices across the UK and in a number on international jurisdictions from its offices in London and Bristol. This year has seen the team consolidate its position as one of the UK’s top private client teams. The team is in growth mode, the goals being to expand and win the very best and most complicated tax and private wealth work. In the last three years, the team has appointed three new partners (Jim Aveline, Sarah Hoskinson and Suzanna Harvey).
