The Pensions team at Burges Salmon has been shortlisted for ‘Pension Lawyers of the Year’ at the UK Pensions Awards 2019 and also for ‘European Pensions Law Firm of the Year’ at the European Pensions Awards 2019.
The recognition comes in response to the team’s expert handling of complex legal issues and equally important day-to-day problems faced by Burges Salmon’s clients, which span the private and public sectors, large commercial master trusts, non-for-profit organisations and religious and educational bodies. The European Pensions Awards give particular acknowledgement to Burges Salmon’s growing international practice.
Of particular importance over the last year has been the team’s work in the DC regulatory sphere and in advising Trustee clients who have unexpectedly qualified as ‘master trusts’ following the recent changes to the law.
Both awards are among the most prestigious accolades in the pensions industry, celebrating those who ‘offer the highest level of innovation, performance and service’ to their clients, with winners being rigorously judged by a panel of industry experts.
Richard Knight, head of Pensions at Burges Salmon, says: “We have one of the largest teams in the UK, including eight partners and over 40 pensions lawyers, that advises an increasingly diverse national and international client base across the private and public sectors.
“I am therefore delighted for the team that they have received this high calibre and well-deserved recognition, for all of the fantastic work that they undertake day-in-day-out for the firm’s Pensions clients both in the UK and across Europe.”
The UK Pensions Awards winners will be announced at a gala dinner in London on Thursday 23 May, with the European awards to follow on Thursday 20 June also in London.
