The Employment team from Burges Salmon has been shortlisted in the Employment Team of the Year category at the forthcoming The Lawyer Awards 2015.
The team has received the shortlisting for its work on a strategic cross-border acquisition by a US-listed international company, which involved the coordination of TUPE and restructuring advice across nine European jurisdictions. The shortlisting recognises the fact that the team is increasingly active in cross-border work. This has been made possible as a result of the team’s focus on expanding and developing its international network of employment law specialists.
Burges Salmon’s Employment team is best known for its ability to support major employers with operations both across the UK and internationally on the full range of employment work, including sensitive and high-profile projects and disputes. The team’s leading position in the UK is demonstrated by the number of major businesses it supports including Babcock International Group, Thomson Reuters, Bank of Ireland, FirstGroup and The Crown Estate.
The team is not only highly-regarded in the private sector but is also recognised in the public sector, having recently been re-appointed to the central Government Crown Commercial Service's employment/pensions panel as one of only seven firms. Since then, the team has won a number of tenders off that panel including being reappointed to advise the Office of Fair Trading and its successor, the Competition and Markets Authority, as well as the Department for Education, the Department for Transport/Highways Agency and the Security Industry Authority.
Burges Salmon's Head of Employment, Roger Bull said: “The team has had a great year, acting for a diverse range of clients on a variety of exciting projects. We are therefore delighted to have been shortlisted for the title of Employment Team of the Year at this year’s The Lawyer Awards, which are widely regarded as one of the legal industry’s most prestigious awards.'
Winners of The Lawyer Awards 2015 will be announced at a ceremony held on Tuesday 23 June 2015 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, in London.
