The Fintech team from independent UK law firm Burges Salmon has been named as a finalist in the ‘Team of the Year’ category at the inaugural Fintech Awards South West.
Burges Salmon’s Fintech team has received this shortlisting through recognition of its teamwork, efficiency, collaborative spirit and going above and beyond in achieving its goals and delivering value both internally and to its clients. The firm has been recognised for clearly demonstrating what it means to work together for a common goal and produce outstanding results for its clients.
Burges Salmon’s Fintech team advises clients on the full spectrum of fintech work, both transactional and advisory. Its work includes corporate transactions, technology transactions and projects, commercial and business partnering arrangements, outsourcing contracts, product development and financial regulatory advice, data privacy and compliance, blockchain and cryptocurrency issues, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity work, and payments matters. The team regularly provides advice on the most complex and novel of cases, requiring a detailed knowledge of regulations and market practice, and is involved with the most commercially critical, legally pioneering and financially significant fintech matters in the market. The team also acts for national and international players in the fintech sector.
The firm’s Fintech team was recently bolstered by the appointment of director James Barrett, who specialises in securitisations, forward-flow deals and debt capital markets work with a particular focus and experience in the fintech sector. This appointment has strengthened the team’s capability to provide debt capital markets and securitisation support for fintechs and fintech funders.

The awards will showcase the region's innovative and thriving fintech community and bring together industry leaders, investors, and entrepreneurs to celebrate their successes.
The shortlists for the awards have been selected by a panel of expert judges, who reviewed entries from a wide range of fintech companies across the region.
