Burges Salmon’s Pensions team has been named as a finalist in three categories at the PMI Pinnacle Awards 2023.
The Pensions Management Institute (PMI) is committed to moving pensions forward through supporting innovation and inspiring change. As a result, PMI’s Pinnacle Awards are designed to celebrate the highest of pensions excellence, with 13 awards, all placed under three vital areas: People, Innovation and Impact.
The Awards recognise the best of the pensions profession and celebrate people and new ideas that contribute in making a real impact in the pensions world. Burges Salmon has been nominated in the following categories:
Team of the Year
This category recognises outstanding teams within the pensions sector, a strategic partner or a supplier to it, that have together achieved remarkable accomplishments for the benefit of the organisation, stakeholders, or scheme members.
Burges Salmon’s Pensions team advises both pension scheme trustees and sponsoring employers. Its clients – some of whom the team has been working with for more than 30 years – span the private and public sectors, large commercial master trusts, not-for-profit organisations as well as religious and educational bodies. The firm’s practice has continued to build upon its trusted status in the international arena, providing specialist UK legal advice to its international clients and coordinating advice across multiple jurisdictions.
Innovation in New Product or Service
This award celebrates those innovative products and services that have become game changers and highlights progress in this arena. It recognises the stand-out product, or service, which, through its development and utilisation, has had the most positive impact on pensions provision.
The firm has been shortlisted in this category following the development (led by Pensions team director Kate Granville Smith) of The Burges Salmon Pension Schemes ESG Tool, making environmental, social, and governance (ESG) simpler for pension scheme trustees and sponsoring employers. Impact on Climate
Corporate behaviour in and around operations, from energy efficiency and waste management, to recycling and reduction in the use of non-sustainable plastics can reduce emissions. This award showcases the positive action taking place in the industry.
Shortlisted in this category as part of the firm’s wider, ongoing approach to its environmental strategy, Burges Salmon is a real industry leader in reducing impact on the climate and helping protect the planet for future generations. The firm doesn’t see it as a choice but as an obligation to do all that it can and more. Having a positive impact on the climate is incredibly important to the firm.
Burges Salmon partner Richard Knight, who heads up the firm’s Pensions practice, comments: “As our team continues to go from strength-to-strength and we focus on delivering an excellent client service, we’re proud to have seen our efforts over the past year recognised in these three important categories at the PMI Pinnacle Awards.”
The PMI Pinnacle Awards take place at The Londoner Hotel on Thursday 23 November 2023.
