Burges Salmon will sponsor Giraffe About Town, an initiative from Edinburgh Zoo and creative producers Wild in Art, to present a large-scale public art event in Edinburgh in the summer of 2022.
The event will feature more than 40 sculptures that will form a free, family-friendly trail of discovery for local people and visitors to explore and enjoy, all while raising funds for the Zoo and the vital conservation work of the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS). The RZSS has protected threatened species in Scotland and around the world for over 100 years.
Each sculpture will be sponsored by local businesses, community groups and education organisations. They will also be decorated by local artists and communities – all designed to celebrate Edinburgh’s extraordinary heritage and cultural diversity.
As the natural environment faces a biodiversity crisis, RZSS are inspiring and empowering communities to help save animals from extinction. This sponsorship collaboration further highlights Burges Salmon’s firm-wide commitment to being both a positive force in the local community and delivering on its sustainability aims in supporting conservation and biodiversity projects.
Burges Salmon Partner, Robert Forman, comments: “We’re absolutely delighted to be supporting this initiative from Edinburgh Zoo. It’s a great way to engage people and improve environmental awareness whilst having an element of fun. It particularly resonates with our commitments to the environment and the community. It has been very much welcomed by our people and our Edinburgh team is looking forward to volunteering at the zoo too!”
