Burges Salmon has, for a record tenth time, been named as the UK’s best legal recruiter for trainee solicitor recruitment at this year’s LawCareers.Net Training & Recruitment Awards (TARAs).
The firm was awarded the top prize in the National / Large Regional Law Firm category, seeing off a number of industry competitors.
Based on the results of an online survey of Burges Salmon trainees and newly-qualified solicitors who have recently gone through the recruitment process, this award is testament to the quality of Burges Salmon’s trainee recruitment programme. As one trainee commented to the judging panel: “There has never been a break in communication from the first invite to assessment centre through to my second seat: I have felt like a member of the team from the word go.”
Burges Salmon offers trainees a six-seat rotation during their training contracts, as opposed to the usual four. This provides trainees with greater opportunity to try out different areas of practice before they qualify. The firm also conducts a formal review at the end of each recruitment cycle to allow lessons to be carried through to the following year.
Keith Beattie, one of Burges Salmon's Trainee Recruitment partners, said: “It is a significant achievement to have been awarded this accolade for the tenth time. Our trainee recruitment programme is central to way we conduct business at Burges Salmon and we are very proud of this continued achievement. The award reflects both the quality and commitment of our recruitment team and everyone at the firm will continue to ensure that the trainee experience at Burges Salmon remains best in class.”
LawCareers.Net publisher Matthew Broadbent commented: 'Wherever you are in the business cycle, it is crucial to nurture talent to guarantee the future of the organisation. The LC.N Awards is all about identifying which firms take the future of their trainees and their business seriously.'
