Overview

Heather is an associate in the firm's pensions department. Her background is in life, pensions and regulated funds, working mainly on new product developments and tackling challenges with heritage products and product literature. She previously worked at a major UK life insurer for several years in their regulatory compliance and financial promotions teams. Heather worked on secondment at Aon for seven months in 2017. Heather is the sub-lead for the firm’s pensions ESG work.

Specialising in advising both trustee and employer clients, Heather utilises her experience across a wide range of pension issues, including both routine matters (member queries and changes to the law) and specific projects (such as scheme amendments). In addition to this, Heather delivers trustee training to her clients and is a member of the Association of Pension Lawyers.

Experience
  • Advising clients on their GMP equalisation projects. 
  • Advising trustees and employers in relation to scheme liability management, including leading specific projects, such as closures to accrual.
  • Leading de-risking projects, including preparing benefit specifications.
  • Leading projects to transfer scheme benefits to master trusts.
  • Working with trustees and employers in relation to member communications, including reviewing and drafting communications in connection with closures, transfers-out, retirement options and GMP equalisation and advising in relation to legal requirements and best practice.
  • Reviewing regulated fund documentation for pension trustees.
  • Advising on investment management agreements between fiduciary managers and clients, including pension schemes.
