About

Justin is a disputes partner specialising in a number of sectors and practice areas including private wealth, pensions, tax, corporate and commercial, partnerships and professional negligence. He advises nationally and internationally, acting for on-shore and off-shore trustees, beneficiaries, private wealth advisory firms, pension scheme stakeholders, corporates, partners, entrepreneurs and business professionals. He works closely with leading law firms in all the major off-shore jurisdictions.

He is a member of STEP and the Association of Pension Lawyers, and holds a diploma in pensions law from Bristol University and the STEP Advanced certificate in Trusts Disputes. Playing a lead role in our Dispute Resolution team, Justin works creatively with his colleagues to help clients arrive at robust solutions while minimising disruption throughout the lifecycle of the dispute. He is supported by our extensive Dispute Resolution practice with a proven track record in the highest-profile cases and cross-border, multi-sector expertise.

Experience

  • Gleeds v Aon & Others: Leading Gleeds’ claim against Aon, and its former lawyers and counsel in relation to invalid pension scheme documentation and the consequences of this.
  • Estate of the Late Lord Jacobs of Belgravia: Managing multiple claims by and against the estate including allegations of undue influence. Settling the principle claims and obtaining court blessing of the settlement.
  • International off-shore trustee: Managing the contentious restructuring of 8 English law trusts of an Italian HNW family and complications arising from death of the Settlor/Protector.
  • St. Modwen Ltd and Dalriada Trustees Ltd: Obtaining rectification of pension scheme governing documentation and bringing a claim against former legal advisers.
  • International off-shore trustee: A negligence claim against two private wealth advisers in relation to the design of an off-shore trust structure, and the subsequent failure to spot the deficiency of the structure.
  • FCA regulated investment business: A negligence claim against a national law firm in respect of its tax advice on Enterprise Investment Scheme eligibility criteria.
