Overview

Sofiya is a solicitor in the Planning and Compulsory Purchase team working on energy and infrastructure projects (with a particular experience in onshore and offshore wind).

Sofiya also has experience advising clients on planning appeals, High Court challenges as well as compulsory purchase order promotion and compensation.

Sofiya has a particular interest in renewable energy and sustainable development. She contributes articles on these topics (Journal of Planning and Environment Law) and also gets invited to speak at universities (Durham University).

Experience
  • Acting for a major offshore wind developer on a nationally significant infrastructure project in the east of England.
  • Acting for a major onshore wind developer on a development of national significance in Wales.
  • Acting for acquiring authorities in the promotion of compulsory purchase orders, including advising on compulsory purchase compensation for North Somerset Council on the Banwell Bypass.
  • Acting for a wide client base ranging from individual developers to local government departments.
  • Day-to-day planning advice, including in relation to public rights of way and agricultural occupancy conditions.
