Sophie Kirk Solicitor

Sophie is a newly-qualified Solicitor who started with Burges Salmon in July 2023. She is Scottish Qualified, having studied at the University of Dundee and qualified in previously worked in Private Client before joining our Pensions team in Edinburgh.

Sophie is a member of the Association of Pensions Lawyers and advises trustees and employers on a variety of matters, including:

• buy in/out projects for schemes;
• pension scheme administration agreements;
• advising on pension scheme ESG requirements;
• pension scheme compliance with relevant legislation, case law and regulator guidance; and
• the ongoing administration of pension schemes (such as the exercise of trustee discretion, managing member queries and interpreting advising on scheme documentation).

• drafting relevant scheme documentation;
• reviewing scheme documentation and preparing advice on compliance with relevant legislation, case law and regulatory guidance;
• providing legal updates and training to clients on a variety of current legal issues; and
• advising on day-to-day pensions queries.
