Stuart McMillan Partner

Stuart is a banking and finance lawyer, based in our Edinburgh office.

He is dual qualified in Scotland and in England and Wales and has extensive experience working for funders, sponsors and public authorities on project and development finance deals in the UK and overseas.

Stuart has acted on the introduction of some of the most innovative financing models in the UK market including the 'aggregator' and 'bank/bond hybrid' models.

Stuart also has extensive experience in real estate finance and asset-based lending matters.

• Advising the funders on the refinancing of the Carlisle Northern Development Route (CNDR) DBFO project.
• Advising the sponsor on the financing (by way of institutional and bank debt) of the acquisition of a portfolio of operational solar parks in the UK.
• Advised the senior funder on the financing of the 12.5 MWe energy from waste plant and adjacent materials recycling facility in Scotland.
• Advised the funders on the bank/bond hybrid Irish Courts PPP scheme.
• Advised the preferred bidder consortium in respect of the PF2 North East Priority Schools Batch Programme. This was the first project to close using the government's "aggregator" financing model .
• Advising the sponsors on the financing aspect of the c. £750m Wakefield Waste PFI Project.
