About
Callum trained at Burges Salmon and qualified into the Pensions and Lifetime Savings team in August 2024. He is a member of the Association of Pension Lawyers.
He advises on a wide-range of pensions matters, including: the Local Government Pension Scheme, public sector pension schemes, buy-ins/outs, and mergers and acquisitions. He also has expertise in relation to pensions technology – in particular, AI and cyber security.
Outside of pensions, Callum has expertise in relation to technology generally and also autonomous vehicles.
Experience
- The Rathbone Group and Laurence Keen Retirement: Completing a £100 million bulk purchase annuity buy-in transaction, insuring 240 members within The Rathbone Group 1987 Pension Scheme and the Laurence Keen Retirement Benefits Scheme.
- LGPS pension pool: Advising one of the largest LGPS pension pools in the UK regarding its actuarial valuation obligations.
- Corporate client: Advising a large corporate client regarding the merger of its fund into one of the largest LGPS Funds in Scotland.
- Corporate trustee: Advising on the appointment of a corporate trustee into a scheme with over £1 billion asset value.
- Master Trusts: Advising two Master Trusts on the implications of the abolition of the Lifetime Allowance.
- Utilities company and a university: Advising on complex cyber security issues and drafting cyber security policies for a large utilities company and a university.
- FirstGroup: Advising FirstGroup on the pensions implications of the acquisition of RATP Dev Transit London.
