Chris is a partner in our Pensions and Lifetime Savings team. He advises pension trustees and companies on all pensions legal issues.
His work includes large projects (such as liability and surplus management exercises, buy-ins/outs, scheme design changes, bulk transfers, corporate restructuring, valuation negotiations, benefit changes) and he has particular expertise in regulatory matters. He has significant experience of advising on anti-avoidance cases.
Chris supports employers with their pensions obligations and risks, including advising on designing strategy and managing risk in light of the new defined benefit (DB) funding regime and the regulatory powers in the Pension Schemes Act 2021.
He also supports trustees with ‘business as usual’ matters such as member and documentation queries. He enjoys delivering training and is a regular public speaker, including on the firm’s webinars and the Burges Salmon Pensions Pod (which he co-hosts) and at events held by others.
He is a full member of the Association of Pension Lawyers.
