About

David is an associate in the firm’s Dispute Resolution team and has broad experience acting for commercial clients in the Public, Defence, Financial Services and Energy & Utilities sectors.

His experience includes High Court, Court of Appeal, and arbitral proceedings, as well as other alternative forms of dispute resolution such as mediation. He has growing specialisms in Defence sector arbitrations and procurement challenges.

David holds current e-discovery certifications and is proficient in managing large and complex disclosure exercises. He has a particular interest in using data analytics and technology, with significant experience streamlining corporate investigations.

Experience

  • Defence sector client: Advising on contractual issues regarding high-value/ high-profile contracts for the provision of military equipment and communications and electronic systems.
  • Defence sector client: Acting for a high-profile client in an arbitration of tremendous importance to the client and with a value of £50 million +.
  • Atos: Acting for a multinational IT company in the challenge of a complex procurement relating to the Met Office’s 2020 procurement of a new supercomputer (investment value of c.£1.2 billion). The case featured in the Lawyer’s top 20 cases of 2022.
  • South West Water: Recent instructions include representing the water company in a High Court group litigation action concerning the Environment Information Regulations.
  • Havant Biogas & others: Acting for biogas project developers in a successful judicial review claim against GEMA/Ofgem (Havant Biogas Ltd & Ors v Gas & Electricity Markets Authority [2021] EWHC 84 (Admin)
  • Financial Services Compensation Scheme: Providing support and advice to FSCS between 2017 – 2023, particularly on compensation and associated recovery action against insurers concerning PPI and SIPP claims.
