Gillian Griffiths Director

Gillian is a Director in the Corporate Tax team.

Gillian has extensive experience of advising clients on a broad range of domestic and international tax matters impacting corporates. She has expertise in a number of sectors, most recently banking, fintech and alternative investment management. She advises on corporate group matters, financing arrangements, investment and management structures, corporate restructurings, M&A and real estate matters.

Gillian trained and practised as a solicitor in London, working in both the legal sector and Big Four. Gillian has been on several client secondments to financial institutions and has worked for a professional services firm in Singapore providing tax advice to domestic, regional and international clients.

Recent experience includes:

• Advising fintechs and investment funds on corporate group restructurings and entrance into new markets
• Advising US-headed alternative investment funds on UK expansions and restructurings
• Seeking statutory and non-statutory clearances from HMRC in relation to a variety of UK tax matters
• Representing a US investment manager in discussions with HMRC regarding proposed changes to anti-hybrids rules
• Advising on the establishment of cryptocurrency platforms and online payment systems
• Structuring acquisitions and disposals of debt portfolios
• Advising on UK real estate investments for overseas investors
• Advising on the impact of employees working overseas during the pandemic
• Advising asset managers on Brexit restructuring
