About

Harry is a senior associate in the firm’s Dispute Resolution team. He advises organisations on litigation, alternative dispute resolution, and non-contentious commercial issues, with a focus on intellectual property, media, technology, and sport.

He has experience in the High Court, Court of Appeal, Intellectual Property Enterprise Court, and Company Names Tribunal.

As an IP lawyer, Harry advises clients on trade marks, copyright, database right, passing off, designs, company names, and online issues such as domain name disputes.

Beyond IP, he advises on reputation management (defamation), confidential information, and contract disputes, particularly those involving media, technology, and sport.

Harry has attended the University of Oxford’s residential Intellectual Property programme. He has worked on secondment at the technology transit business Via Transportation, and is well-versed in working with international clients, especially US businesses.

Experience

  • Various clients: Advising clients such as the BBC, Victoria’s Secret, Bath & Body Works, WarnerBros Discovery, and Harrods on the protection and enforcement of IP rights. Representing the BBC and Virgin in company name disputes before the Company Names Tribunal.
  • Benefit Cosmetics: Successfully defending the San Francisco based beauty brand in a trade mark infringement claim in the High Court.
  • Funko: Successfully defending the US pop-culture collectibles giant in High Court trade mark litigation relating to collectible figures of characters from the hit video game and film franchise ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’.
  • Santa Barbara Polo Club: Representing the Club in its successful jurisdictional challenge of passing off and trade mark infringement proceedings in the High Court and Court of Appeal.
  • Brooks Running: Acting for a leading US running shoe brand in a claim for trade mark infringement and passing off brought by Puma, about use of the word ‘NITRO’ in relation to nitrogen-infused running shoes.
  • Quasi-government body: Acting for a quasi-government body in High Court proceedings, and subsequent damages inquiry, for breach of contract and copyright / database right infringement.
