About
Helena joined Burges Salmon as a paralegal in 2020 and subsequently trained at the firm. She qualified into the Projects team in September 2023.
Helena’s experience spans the the environment, energy, and nuclear sectors. She advises both private and public sector clients in respect of a range of regulatory, commercial, strategic and contractual issues.
Helena sits on the UK Environmental Law South West Committee and Burges Salmon’s Environment Committee. She is also the chair of Burges Salmon’s BSustainable network.
Experience
- Large group of companies: Coordinating and carrying out EHS vendor due diligence of the company and its group of subsidiaries, including items relating to asbestos, environmental permitting, waste management, trade effluent and contamination.
- Various clients: Assisting in respect of environmental permitting issues and interviews under caution, including preparing the clients for the interview and drafting a statement to be read out at interview.
- Offshore wind company: Carrying out due diligence on transmission connection agreements and various services agreements and coordinating the transfer of those agreements into an third party.
- Multinational companies: Advising on their obligations under the REACH regime in both the UK and EU. Providing a multinational company with strategic advice on how to structure their supply chain in order to comply with REACH.
- Large waste operator: Supporting in respect of the restructuring of the client’s waste businesses and advising in respect of the associated environmental regulatory implications of each restructuring option.
- Nuclear Decommissioning Authority: Advising various NDA subsidiaries on contractual and regulatory matters.
