About

Katie is a partner with over 20 years’ experience in employment law. Based in our Edinburgh office, she heads up our Scotland Employment practice.

She is ranked in Chambers 2025, and as a ‘Leading Partner’ with Legal 500. She is an experienced adviser in UK employment and discrimination law and is qualified in Scotland, England and Wales. She provides businesses with commercially focused and strategic advice on the full range of employment law matters, including employment litigation and workplace investigations.

Katie is an Accredited Specialist in Employment Law with the Law Society of Scotland, and is a member of the Employment Lawyers’ Association. She also sits on the Employment Law Policy Sub-Committee of the Law Society of Scotland.

She writes and presents regularly on employment law developments, as well as providing bespoke training to clients.

Experience

  • Nuclear Decommissioning Authority: Advising on TUPE aspects of a large-scale project to create a single legal entity.
  • An engineering and defence plc: Representing the company in various aspects of employment litigation.
  • Financial institutions: Advising various financial institutions on financial sector remuneration and other regulatory rules.
  • Sensitive and complex matters: Acting as independent investigator and grievance appeal chair on sensitive and complex matters.
  • Private bank: Advising a private bank in relation to the sale of its trusts business, including drafting employee TUPE communications.
