Overview

Lucy is a director in our Projects team who acts for clients on major projects and complex commercial transactions, with a focus on the defence and aerospace sectors.

Lucy has extensive experience advising both public and private sector clients throughout the full project lifecycle, including:

  • supporting clients to develop a commercial strategy and advising on the structuring of complex projects and transactions;
  • advising on the development of contractual arrangements and associated commercial and legal issues including pricing, payment and incentivisation, risk allocation and liability; 
  • advising on multi-party transactions, partnering, alliancing and other collaborative structures; and
  • assisting with project mobilisation, transition, and ongoing contract management.

Lucy has particular experience of advising the UK Ministry of Defence on major strategic defence programmes and as a result has a deep understanding of the issues faced by customers and suppliers in this sector, and a detailed knowledge of defence contracting principles, including MOD standard contracts, specimen clauses and DEFCONs, UK MOD commercial policy, and the Single Source Contract Regulations.

Lucy is also committed to diversity and inclusion and is part of a team responsible for managing the firm’s gender balance employee network, helping to develop initiatives which promote best practice and equality in the workplace.

Experience
  • Advising the Ministry of Defence on the contractual arrangements relating to the Tempest programme, part of the Government’s Combat Air Strategy.
  • Advising the Ministry of Defence in relation to the construction of the new Dreadnought Class submarines by BAE Systems.
  • Advising DHL and Babcock in relation to their joint bid for the MOD Logistics, Commodities and Supplies Transformation Project (an outsourcing of MOD's commodities supply chain).
  • Advising First Group in relation to the procurement of, and ongoing operational arrangements for, a new fleet of electric multiple units.
  • Advising GWR on the acquisition of a new fleet of Class 802 bi-mode (diesel-electric) trains.
