About

Rachael is an associate in the firm’s Dispute Resolution team. She has experience working on complex and high-profile public inquiries, investigations and inquests. She has significant experience advising both those conducting public inquiries and designated core participants.

She also has experience advising on substantial and factually complex claims for judicial review including breaches of the Human Rights Act 1998. She has advised on a wide range of public law matters and has successfully acted on behalf of both Claimants and Defendants in judicial review proceedings.

Experience

  • UK Covid-19 Inquiry: Solicitor on multiple modules as part of the Solicitor to the Inquiry team to the UK Covid-19 Inquiry investigating the impact of and response to the covid-19 pandemic in the UK.
  • Chair of the UK Covid-19 Inquiry: Successfully defending a claim for judicial review which challenged the Inquiry Chair’s decision to compel the production of unredacted WhatsApp communications of former Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
  • Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry: Acting for a Core Participant to the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry investigating the failings which occurred with the Horizon IT system used by the Post Office.
  • Grenfell Tower Inquiry: Acting for a Core Participant to the Grenfell Tower Inquiry investigating the circumstances leading up to and surrounding the fire at Grenfell Tower on the night of 14 June 2017.
