About

Shannon joined the Pensions team as a solicitor in 2023 and is based in our Edinburgh office. She advises various trustee, corporate and local government clients on a wide range of pensions matters, in relation to both defined benefit and defined contribution schemes.

She graduated from the University of Dundee with an undergraduate law degree in 2019 and gained her Diploma in professional legal practice from the University of Aberdeen in 2020. Shannon is a full member of the Association of Pension Lawyers.

Experience

  • Broad range of corporate, trustee, and insurer clients: Advising a broad range of corporate, trustee, and insurer clients on all aspects of pensions law and regulation, both in Scotland and UK-wide.
  • Master trusts: Advising on large projects including scheme wind-ups and bulk transfers to master trusts.
  • Engagement terms and multi-employer schemes: Advising on engagement terms with advisors and actuaries as well as advising multi-employer schemes on matters such as flexible apportionment arrangements.
  • Corporate transactions: Advising on corporate transactions including preparing due diligence reports where the pension liabilities are unclear.
  • Buy-in and out projects for schemes: Buy-in and out projects for schemes of varying values, reviewing benefit specifications, insurer’s terms and preparing detailed legal advice.
  • Legal updates and training to clients: Providing legal updates and training to clients on a variety of current legal issues.
