Alec has wide-ranging experience of advising developers, investors, Government, funders, licensed suppliers, major energy users and contractors on all aspects of projects, regulation, commercial agreements and project finance transactions in the net zero, energy and waste sectors.

Alec’s expertise includes:

• Net zero/energy project and portfolio structuring, joint venture agreements, project development agreements, concession agreements and service agreements;
• Leading teams advising on the development, acquisition and financing of projects and businesses operating in the energy and net zero sector;
• The net zero, electricity, gas and heat regulatory regimes, including broader policy, incentive and levy regimes, the industry codes and licensing and trading regimes and conditions;
• Fuel supply and handling contracts for fuelled generation projects and by-product offtake agreements;
• Electricity, gas, heat, ancillary product, shipping, balancing, supply and trading agreements;
• NGESO’s balancing services suite and pathfinder projects; and
• Electricity, gas and heat grid matters.

• Advising Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, Brookfield, Atlantic Green, Zenobe, Forsa Energy, Kona Energy, Pulse Energy, Noriker Energy, Voltwise Power, Eku Energy, Cero Generation, Anesco, Temporis Capital, Drax, Octopus, pumped storage developers, utilities and many others on flexible generation, storage, grid stability, balancing and energy saving projects and transactions.
• Advising BayWa, re:cap, Integrum, Innovo Renewables, Ampyr Solar Europe, Clean Energy Cap, Aura Power, Aukera, Peel, EMEC and many others on solar PV, onshore, offshore and remote island wind, hydro, wave and tidal projects and transactions;
• Acting for or opposite lenders such as Rabobank, NatWest, Santander, Investec, Lloyds, Goldman Sachs, Export Development Canada, Gravis Capital Partners, Triple Point and many others on the energy aspects of the project financing of generation and storage assets across the technology range.
• Advising Good Energy, Hartree Partners, Equinicity, Bryt Energy and many other licensees on various electricity and gas regulatory, trading, operational and investment matters;
• Advising developers, investors and lenders on all aspects of biomass and AD generating projects including in relation to the following biomass generating projects: Speyside, Cramlington, Discovery Park, Ince, RothesCoRDde, Teeside, Widnes, Hooton, Lisahally, SELCHP, Beckton, Snetterton, Brigg, Tilbury,Dartmoor & Felinfach.
• Advising clients such as GrowUp Farms, NTT Data Centers, Manchester Airports Group, South West Water, YTL, Redrow, Lands Improvement, the Crown Estate and various other institutional landlords and major energy users on private networks, iDNO transactions and electricity, gas, heat and ancillary product trading and supply agreements, including corporate PPAs.
• Advising Ofgem in connection with various regulatory regimes and industry code matters.
