Ben Davies Director

Ben is a director in the dispute resolution team, specialising in health & safety. He works with his colleagues to help clients arrive at the right solution to their issue, minimising impact and maximising success. He is supported by our extensive dispute resolution practice with a proven track record in the highest-profile cases and cross-border, multi-sector expertise.

Ben advises on large scale investigations, inquests and inquiries. He has particular expertise in incident response, criminal safety investigations and prosecutions, inquests and regulatory compliance issues. Ben advises across a range of sectors with a particular specialism in rail matters. Ben also has experience of advising on wide range of regulatory matters including policy, authorisations/approvals and exemptions.

Ben has worked for two health and safety regulators, working in-house for the rail regulator for over three years and separately advising and acting on behalf of the Health and Safety Executive for over a year.

He has a background in general crime and previous experience with sports regulation, specifically anti-doping matters working in-house at the UK’s anti-doping regulator.

Ben originally qualified as a solicitor in general crime and acted for defendants at every stage of the criminal justice system from the police station through to the Court of Appeal.

• A serious injury to a child at a railway freight yard managed by a freight operating company.
• Two work place fatalities following a fatigue management failing by a railway infrastructure services provider.
• A work place fatality at a metro depot run by a local authority funded transport provider.
• A passenger fatality onboard a train operating company service.
• A legionella outbreak at a care home provider.
• A work place fatality at a recycling centre managed by a large waste management company.
• A serious injury to a sub-contractor falling from height at a site managed by a construction company.
• A work place fatality of a train driver at a train maintenance depot managed by a train operating company.
• A serious injury to an electrical engineer at an electrical substation managed by a railway infrastructure owner.
• A serious work place accident to a railway worker under the management of a railway infrastructure owner.
