Emma is an experienced projects lawyer and advises energy generators, large energy users, vendors, purchasers, government departments, local authorities, funders and contractors on all aspects of projects and project finance transactions, particularly in the renewables, clean heat, waste and energy sectors.
Emma helps clients put in place contractual solutions to develop robust energy projects, including fuel supply, heat supply/offtake, grid connection and power purchase (with licensed suppliers, via private wire and through corporate PPAs).
Emma’s expertise includes:
- net zero/energy project and portfolio structuring, joint venture agreements, project development agreements, concession agreements and service agreements
- offtake arrangements including power purchase agreements, corporate PPAs, heat supply arrangements and private wire
- energy sector regulatory advice including Renewables Obligation, Feed-in Tariff, Contracts for Difference, Renewable Heat Incentive, Capacity Market, Low Carbon Hydrogen Agreement and energy licensing
- advising public sector entities on the procurement of a range of energy and clean heat projects
- waste and fuel supply agreements
- leading due diligence on waste and energy sector acquisitions, disposals and financings including onshore and offshore wind, solar, gas peakers and EfW
- energy trading and energy supply agreements, and
- local authority waste collection and disposal.
Emma was a member of RenewableUK's inaugural Shadow Board. RenewableUK is the UK's leading not-for-profit renewable energy trade association, and has established the Shadow Board in order to support its main Board by providing a greater range of views on key issues. Emma was also a member of the UK Green Building Council’s working group on its Renewable Energy Procurement guidance.
