Overview

Jonny is a Solicitor in the firm’s Dispute Resolution team. He has a broad experience covering health and safety matters, internal and regulatory investigations, criminal proceedings, Coroner’s inquests, public inquiries, arbitration, and building and fire safety.

Jonny completed a Master’s Degree in Chemistry at the University of Manchester before turning to the law. He worked in the legal team at the General Medical Council and undertook his training at a leading law firm in Manchester before joining Burges Salmon in early 2024.

Experience
  • Acted on the public inquiries in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic and the use of infected blood.
  • Advised on the UK healthcare regulatory environment for a well-known healthcare brand that was looking to launch a new online product.
  • Acted on an internal investigation undertaken by a leading specialist hospital in relation to the conduct of a handful of its medical consultants.
  • Took a leading role in the day-to-day case management of a complex multi-million pound rail arbitration.
  • Advised companies on their role as interested persons for numerous Coroner’s Inquests, including for hospital deaths and sensitive rail related fatalities.
  • Acted on the policy review for a leading global charity.
  • Advised retail clients in relation to antisocial behaviour in store.
  • Advised the government of a foreign country in relation to food designation.
  • Advised a Local Authority in regard to the application of the Building Safety Act on its high-rise social housing portfolio.
