Overview

Luke is a senior associate in the firm's Banking and Finance team with extensive experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating documents for a broad range of domestic, cross-border and multi-jurisdictional finance transactions. He acts for lenders, borrowers, sponsors, and commercial clients. Luke is regularly responsible for coordinating multi-disciplinary teams on complex commercial projects.

Luke spent six months on secondment to Lloyds Banking Group plc in 2018 as a member of the Debt Products Legal Team for the Commercial Banking Legal Group, where he provided transactional support and advice on a wide variety of matters including refinancing and turnaround work, restructuring, and security issues, as well as advising the Bank on several strategic projects.

Experience
  • Acting for a central government department on the £1.27 billion financing of a public corporation.
  • Advising Albion Capital on the on the £57 million financing of their 18MW portfolio of approximately 30 separate renewable energy projects (comprising onshore wind, hydroelectric and rooftop solar projects) situated in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
  • Advised Brussels-based EDFI Management Company on the multi-million USD denominated multi-tranche junior term loan facilities to finance PEG Africa’s social-impact solar home systems in Ghana, Senegal, Mali and Côte d’Ivoire.
  • Advising Bio Capital (owned by Equitix and Helios), on the £85 million syndicated debt financing of its portfolio of UK anaerobic digestion assets across England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
  • Acting for a global cosmetics company in connection with the refinancing of its international operations, including advising on matters of UK law and coordinating advice across 7 other jurisdictions.
  • Advising international mobility startup Zoomo on a venture debt financing facility.
  • Advising the board of directors of a UK energy company on the successful restructure of its debts, rescuing the company from entering a formal insolvency process.
  • Advising the syndicate of lenders in relation to a US$10 million syndicated financing of a solar home systems project in Nigeria.
  • Advising the world's largest independent energy trader on the structuring and financing of its acquisition of a refined petroleum product storage facility in West Africa.
  • Advising a UK mid-market private equity house on its MBO of an insurance company.
  • Acting for a private equity house on the financing matters relating to its acquisition of the UK operations of a high profile global retail conglomerate.
  • Continued support to an investment fund in respect of their facilities totalling over £45m to a group of nurseries providing early years education throughout London and the home counties.
  • Acting for the EDFI Management Company SA (EDFI) and the Renewable Energy Performance Platform (REPP) as Lenders on a LSL 150,000,000 facility agreement and equity subscription for OnePower as Borrower.
  • Acted for Investec Bank plc as Lender, Arranger, Agent, Security Trustee and Hedge Counterparty on the £90m financing of Privilege Renewable Finance's lending to a portfolio of Anaerobic Digestion assets in the UK.
